While surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, surgical assistants and others grow in bliss and pay, surgical instrument processors are relegated to mere dish washers. And though there are  surgical instrument processing certification boards, none embraced the challenge to elevate surgical instrument processing to its deserved heights. Thereby leaving instrument processing technicians in professional stagnation and lower wages. For this reason, the consortium of sterile sciences was formed to empower, elevate and advance sterile processing, while insuring that it remains an object of scientific study and practice.
